Pillar kicks Intel's SSD to the curb, upgrades storage array

Pillar data systems announced several upgrades to its modular Pillar Axiom storage array, doubling cache capacity, hard drive capacity and moving to an STEC SSD because Intel's SSD has seen slowdown problems.

In the ongoing quest to make more efficient use of storage capacity, Hitachi Data Systems is adding software to its enterprise storage arrays that can find unused space on storage devices from multiple vendors and release it.

Sun unveils entry-level SSD-hybrid storage array

Sun Microsystems Inc. today unveiled a new low-end to its Sun Storage 7000 series of Unified Storage arrays. The new Sun Storage 7310 array allows solid state disk (SSD) drives and hard disk drives to be used in the same chassis and under the same management interface.

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
