Is storage the least sexy of tech's sub-disciplines? End-users ooh and ahh over slick-looking monitors and tablets, but storage is caught in something of a Catch-22: it's either so sleek as to be invisible (as in the aforementioned tablets, hidden away inside) or some clunky and often grubby-looking external drive (as in the pile o' disks above). Storage might be the industrial designer's toughest tech dilemma; let's look at some of the strategies for making it sexy -- or at least presentable.
