March 09, 2009, 1:14 PM — Check out this DIY NAS. This article walks you through six steps to building a cheap NAS and uses, of all things, a box from IKEA (The EMU box, $6.99 for a set of 2).

According to Instructables' user aarone, all of the electronics are RoHS-compliant and the unit is energy efficient.
