You can now check your Facebook status updates and add friends within Microsoft Outlook, thanks to an update to the Outlook Social Connector plugin.

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion's (RIM) BlackBerry Desktop Manager software doesn't currently support Microsoft Outlook 2010, which means many corporate smartphone users are unable to sync e-mail, calendar, contacts, tasks, etc. between Outlook 2010 and their BlackBerrys via the application.

Now under new management, MySpace is looking to reinvent itself and rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. The once dominant social networking site fell from nearly 70 percent of the social networking market, to only 30 percent in less than a year, and was plummeting on the verge of extinction.

The social network for business professionals, LinkedIn, released a beta version of its Microsoft Outlook add-on Wednesday. LinkedIn Outlook Connector allows you to keep up to date with your LinkedIn connections, integrates their contact information into Outlook, and allows you to add new LinkedIn connections right from your desktop.

In another move by Google Inc. to woo enterprises to its hosted software, the company today unveiled Google Apps Synch for Microsoft Outlook.

Microsoft may be set to offer some of its hosted business-productivity services earlier than the company expected.
