    BlackBerry Torch 9800

    Posted August 18, 2010 - 12:30 pm

The word "BlackBerry" used to bring to mind mostly images of bulky, brick-like handhelds and busy executives in tailored suits. Today, BlackBerry smartphones are all over the place, in the hands of teenagers, parents, businessmen and everyone in between. And they come in all shapes and sizes.

On October 26th, 2009, my BlackBerry Storm received it's awaited upgrade to the new v5.0 operating system. I was surprised to see how much faster the screen and application response time is. If you haven't yet upgraded your Storm to OS 5.0, then do so with all speed.

Blackberry 9700 Isn't All That Bold

    Posted October 21, 2009 - 12:26 pm

BlackBerry is rolling out the Bold 9700 which will be available from T-Mobile and AT&T. For T-Mobile and AT&T customers who are Blackberry devotees, this is great news. For the rest of the smartphone market it is more or less not news-- at least not compared with more innovative device that have been introduced lately.

Review: RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 (Verizon) Smartphone

    Posted October 15, 2009 - 10:50 am

When the BlackBerry Storm debuted last fall, RIM's first touchscreen device received not-so-stellar reviews. RIM took reviewers' and customers' gripes into consideration, however, when designing the BlackBerry Storm 2. The result? This is the Storm that I wish RIM had released last year.

Research In Motion's BlackBerry Storm features a Java-based full-HTML browser, which RIM claims is in the same class with the browsers on iPhone, Palm Pre, Nokia, and Android devices. In many respects, that assertion is true.

Amazon has Kindle. What does BlackBerry have?

    Posted June 3, 2009 - 11:14 am

As a rather voracious reader and collector of esoteric horror novels, you would think that I am completely against the concept of the eBook. Oddly enough, I love the idea. The new Kindle DX is surprisingly easy to use, read, and navigate. However, it is an expensive piece of electronic hardware. But what if I could read eBooks on my BlackBerry?

    BlackBerry Bold (Unlocked)

    Posted April 28, 2009 - 9:53 pm

T-Mobile customers can experience the speed and sophistication of Research in Motion's BlackBerry Bold 9000 (US$400, unlocked, as of 4/13/09) if they buy it from third-party vendors (AT&T sells the handset at a subsidized price). But while the Bold boasts a sleek design, a sharp display, and high-speed connectivity, it fails to impress in other areas--particularly, its call quality and its camera's image quality.

BlackBerry apps: Are they worth the download?

    Posted March 26, 2009 - 2:14 pm

There are people who simply don't get the smartphone concept. Some of those people, oddly enough, seem to be smartphone application developers. I am often astounded by the amount of effort obviously put into an app only to have a spit-shined, sparkly GUI which is, sadly, fairly useless.

    T-Mobile Refreshes the BlackBerry Curve

T-Mobile's update of the BlackBerry Curve, the 8900, isn't an earth-shattering revision of one of Research in Motion's most successful QWERTY keyboard models. But for those who are content to browse over T-Mobile's somewhat pokey EDGE network when Wi-Fi isn't available, it offers an improved camera, a sleeker design, and a snappier processor than its predecessor, the Curve 8320.
