Gadgets get Wi-Fi right (Part 1)

I'm often cautious of devices that claim to have Wi-Fi functionality and support, mainly because connecting to Wi-Fi (especially secure Wi-Fi) can be tricky for devices that don't utilize a browser or some other good input method. In the past, several devices I've tried (digital photo frames, cameras, printers) have failed to connect to my network because of the configuration issues required that weren't completely hammered out by the vendor. Fortunately, things have gotten better.

August's coolest gadgets

Despite Tokyo's sizzling summer heat the country's gadget makers aren't slowing down and we've seen some interesting products in the last few weeks. The highlight has to be Toyota's Winglet, which is sort of like a shrunken version of the Segway transporter. Toyota let me take it for a test drive and it was a lot of fun. Despite a little nervousness getting on it the first time, it was soon a breeze to drive.
