    HP paid roughly 11 times what 3Par made in revenue in 2009, so perhaps Dell should be wiping sweat from its forehead after losing the bidding battle for the storage vendor. Still, HP could make hay with 3Par in a big way.

    Dell has thrown in the towel and conceded the 3PAR bidding war to HP. With that epic struggle behind it, Dell has to determine its next steps--sans 3PAR and now competing against the cloud storage service it had hoped to be offering.

HP appears to have the edge right now, but the good news for whichever tech giant ultimately loses the battle for 3PAR is that there are other virtualized storage providers out there.
