Hacking the Cable Modem: Building A Console Cable

The following instructions describe how to build your own console port from scratch. If you are a computer junkie like me, you may already have all the parts needed. For example, the most important part you need is a RS-232–to–TTL integrated circuit chip, which you might find in an old serial mouse or smartcard programmer.

'Iceman' pleads guilty to massive computer hacking

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
