 <title>Measuring carbon impact: IT&#039;s next Sarbanes-Oxley</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/green-it/82072/measuring-carbon-impact-its-next-sarbanes-oxley</link>
<description>New environmental regulations coming into favor in the United States, Europe and soon in Canada as well will require many companies to be able to measure the environmental impact and carbon emissions contributed by their business and their product. That will require technology, and SAP sees opportunity for the IT industry and the channel around measuring sustainability.

 <title>Hands on with Nissan&#039;s eco-driving system</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/business/80137/hands-nissans-eco-driving-system</link>
<description>If my driving and the environment were together in a room they probably wouldn&#039;t get on very well. I don&#039;t drive at steady speeds, I wait too late to brake and my acceleration isn&#039;t up to scratch -- or so Nissan&#039;s iPhone eco-driving application told me when I took it for a test drive on Wednesday.

<title>Apple moves up in Greenpeace rankings</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/hardware/79514/apple-moves-greenpeace-rankings</link>
<description>If it&#039;s the first day of October, then it&#039;s time once again for environmental group Greenpeace&#039;s quarterly report card of electronics corporations. The group&#039;s latest regular report places Apple in ninth place, square in the middle of the pack, which also includes competitors like Dell, HP, and Lenovo. That&#039;s up from the 11 spot in last quarter&#039;s rankings, but there&#039;s a catch: the report card doesn&#039;t take into account Apple&#039;s most recent environmental moves.
