Online marketplace offers low, low, low prices on stolen Web traffic

If you're into malware or selling dodgy schemes through deceptive advertising, the new site offering to sell traffic stolen from other sites might be a good source of business. But, if you're legit, it's a good way to contact people guaranteed to already be mad at you.

FBI center warns consumers how to avoid scams during Black Friday, holiday shopping

You know thosenotices you get from your bank notifying you about higher fees? Scam artists are getting better with phone, email and text blasts at sounding like real banks updating customers, except they want all the money in the account, not just $5 more per month.

U.S. Marshals stopped 30 billion spams per day shutting down the Rustock botnet in March, but no one filled that niche, presumably because spam is now riskier than other crimes.

I get a lot of emails from Amazon anyway (my family is sadly addicted to Amazon Unbox video on demand) but these looked just a little too funky. Just when I think e-mail scams can't get any more brazen, or e-mail readers any more careless, I get surprised again. “Job offer at your location” arrived today, combining two amazing scams in one spam. At least they're saving bandwidth by combining scams. No doubt they consider themselves “green” spammers.

Forty-one million stolen credit cards is just the beginning

Federal prosecutors have charged 11 people with stealing 41 million credit cards, obtained by wardriving. The criminals drove around and scanned wireless networks for vulnerabilities, then installed sniffers that stole credit card information. Was this kind of attack inevitable? I believe it was. And we have more coming.
