 <title>Virus Cracks Open Email Scam</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/security/56619/virus-cracks-open-email-scam</link>
<description>This story is near and dear to me. One day I went into a frenzy, because a good friend sent me an email that she was stranded in Ghana and needed me to send her some money. She never mentioned she was going to Ghana. I was taken off guard at first, because I had a couple of other friends who had gone to Ghana to work, about the same time.

<title>Trojans and viruses are out to get you</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/security/54515/trojans-and-viruses-are-out-get-you</link>
<description>Have you received your virus-infected e-mail yet today? I don&#039;t know what&#039;s up, but in the last week I&#039;ve received dozens of e-mails with a virus infected attachment or a link to a backdoor Trojan horse. There are three variations and all have one thing in mind--luring me into getting zapped with a nasty payload.

<title>What you always wanted to know about malware (but were afraid to ask)</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/security/54360/what-you-always-wanted-know-about-malware-were-afraid-ask</link>
<description>Malware, like real-world epidemics, has the strange property that it does not only matter to your health how well protected you are, but also, how well average people &quot;out there&quot; are. The more machines that are infected, the higher is your risk of also becoming infected. But that is not all: You are at risk even if you are well protected!

<title>Why no news is bad news -- at least when it comes to malware</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/security/54326/why-no-news-bad-news-least-when-it-comes-malware</link>
<description>Once upon a time, malware authors wrote code to infect thousands of machines for entertainment and intellectual stimulation. Today, it&#039;s all about the money, and the greatest threat may lie in the silence, making a far more dangerous landscape.

<title>AdaptiveMobile sees Sharp Rise in Volume of Mobile Network Virus Attacks</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/news/53835/adaptivemobile-sees-sharp-rise-volume-mobile-network-virus-attacks</link>
<description>AdaptiveMobile today recommended to mobile operators that they step-up security for their subscribers, as they witness a steady rise in attacks. Recent analysis of data from AdaptiveMobile’s mobile operator customers suggests that two virus variants – CommWarrior and Beselo – are causing particular damage. While CommWarrior only affects Nokia Series 60 phones, Beselo attacks all smartphones, spreading via Bluetooth and MMS as a Symbian SIS installation file and is growing at four times the rate of CommWarrior.
