 <link>http://www.itworld.com/channel/66950/oracle-sun-deal-vars-positive</link>
<description>Some early reports are coming in that VARs are on board with the Oracle-Sun deal. to date though, neither Sun nor Oracle has said much of anything about how the deal will affect the sales channel, but it seems to be welcome.

 <title>Oracle&#039;s Sun acquisition is a game-changer</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/channel/66663/oracles-sun-acquisition-game-changer</link>
<description>I can&#039;t say that it was totally unexpected, but it did happen rather suddenly. The deal between IBM and Sun collapsed, and Oracle wasted no time in swooping in to pick up the pieces with a deal to acquire Sun for $9.50 a share, or about $7.4 billion. What is surprising is that the deal is really not that much more than what IBM was offering.

<title>Doesn&#039;t anyone want to buy Sun?</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/channel/65872/doesnt-anyone-want-buy-sun</link>
<description>The talks between IBM and Sun Microsystems have broken down, and it looks like the $7 billion acquisition of Sun by IBM isn&#039;t going to happen. According to today&#039;s Wall Street Journal, Sun rejected the offer over the weekend, and terminated Sun&#039;s agreement to negotiate exclusively with IBM.

<title>Which Techie should run General Motors</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/it-managementstrategy/65387/which-techie-should-run-general-motors</link>
<description>Rich Wagoner, the GM man in full with 31-years at the battered giant, is on his way out of the General courtesy of the federal government. So, if the exec that grew up in the company can&#039;t make the big change needed, how about a techie? Let&#039;s take a look at the stack of resumes.

<title>IBM looking at Sun as acquisition target</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/channel/64697/ibm-looking-sun-acquisition-target</link>
<description>According to reports in the Wall Street Journal today, IBM is considering acquiring Sun Microsystems for $6.5 billion. The competitors have long battled over the server market, and the acquisition could be a big coup for IBM on that front. At one time during the height of the dotcom boom, Sun was valued at $205 billion.

<title>Open source may have a role in government</title>
 <link>http://www.itworld.com/channel/61573/open-source-may-have-role-government</link>
<description>The enormous economic stimulus plan known as the &quot;American Recovery and Reinvestment Act&quot; currently before Congress will no doubt filter down to the IT business in the form of government spending on a wide variety of tech-based programs.
