January 31, 2011, 10:33 AM — If you haven't caught onto the Angry Birds
fad phenomenon yet, get ready for an onslaught of even more content coming your way. Rovio Mobile, creator of the Angry Birds video game that is popular on iPhones, iPads and Android devices, has teamed up with Twentieth Century Fox, which is making the bird-related animated movie RIO.
The cross promotion means there will be an Angry Birds RIO video game coming to the world in March, to coincide with the RIO movie's world premiere. The movie releases worldwide on April 15. In the game, the original Angry Birds (the red, blue and yellow one) are kidnapped and taken to Rio, where they escape their captors and then have to save Blu and Jewel - characters from the movie RIO. The game will launch wtih 45 new levels and will feature new levels via app updates.
Here's a sneak preview video that Rovio has released. My kids, I'm sure, are thrilled.
