ttopp answers Re: Do you think Google's decision to link Google+ account IDs with Play comments is a good one? I'm ok with it. It may be another little chip away at online privacy, but you don't have to post a review. I'm as foul mouthed as the next guy in the proper context, maybe more so, but user reviews aren't the place for abusive, profane speech.23 weeks 19 hours ago

I don't have any specific advice, but I think that you have already figured out the most important thing. You wrote that, "...it is all about loving the work and not working for money. Money will come on its own, if we prove our worth." I think that you nailed it.

One thing that sometimes works and it very easy is to reset the A-GPS data. You can download the GPS Status app for free from Google Play and do it through the app. Which, BTW, didn't help when my GPS stopped working, but it works for some people.

The landing page is the way visitors are introduced to a site, and is arguably the most important page on a site. If done well, it can encourage visitors to explore the site, if done poorly, it can actually cause visitors to bail without even seeing the meat of the site. What do you think are the things that make a landing page effective?

ttopp answers Re: Will you be able to use Apple's new "fusion drive" on Macs that don't come equipped with it? I've read that the fusion drive will work on Macs running 10.8.2, but I haven't confirmed that with "eyes on".26 weeks 1 day ago

Many of us on the east coast are still dealing with the aftermath of the storm, and I hope everyone is doing ok. Did you learn anything that might help mitigate problems if there is another massive disruptive event like Sandy?

Why not just call into your voicemail from a land line, listen to the messages that you want to save, and use a digital recorder to record that call?

Microsoft has supported XP for ever. At least it seems like forever. Does anyone know how long Windows 7 will be continue to be supported?

Ummm, not sure I follow that one, maybe you could clarify your question a little. Perhaps a little background on the cloud computing model would be helpful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing

Depends on the price point. Aside from the merits of Apple vs Android devices, I think if the comparable Apple product is twice as expensive, it won't affect sales of the Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire very much because it will attract a different set of consumers.

I know that there is Google Wallet and a couple of other companies that are trying to get mobile payment off the ground. Having seen the use of smartphones as payment devices in Europe, I know that it is a workable model. Apple's decision not to include NFC seems like a pretty big set-back to the technology going truly mainstream.

I have a network at my house for my home office, and the printer changes its IP address all the time. What do I need to do to make the IP address stay constant?

Yeah, I would go with the do it yourself method to avoid problems. If you really want to, though, I guess you could use App-V to deploy software as a trusted install.

I like to use OkayFreedom for my personal VPN, and like the way it will automatically change my IP address to keep my activity private, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice for business use. Here is an article that tells you a little about it, as well as a couple of alternatives.

I can't resist the siren's call of a new iPhone, but the money thing is a bit of an issue. What is the best way to sell the "old" iPhone for the most money, so I can afford to get a shiny new iPhone 6? There is always ebay, but I can't help thinking that there must be a better...and more lucrative...way.

In another sign that Google is trying to make all of its services/products interconnected, they are apparently planning to tie in your Gmail account to search results. The example that I've seen used is that if you were to search for "Amazon" in search, it would pull information from your emails and show it with the search results.

On WordPress, I think you have to use a plug-in to insert the "no follow" attribute. I'm not sure that the plug-in will add the attribute retroactively to all of the existing spam comments.

ttopp asks Will Amazon's High I/O Instance type be affordable and available for the majority of cloud users? Amazon is offering SSD backed High I/O Instances for those willing and able to pay for it. At least for now this seems aimed at those big AWS customers like Netflix that need to eliminate bottlenecks and have the money to pay to do it.41 weeks 2 days ago

ttopp answers Re: Does the integration of Google Drive with Chrome OS make it a viable alternative to a traditional laptop? In my mind the same issue is still there for Chromebooks that has been there from the start: They cost too much for what they are. You can purchase a laptop that can do everything it can do and more for less money, with the possible exception of being as light and elegant.42 weeks 6 days ago

I would assume development cost would be minimal, relatively speaking, so why not. While Apple is obviously not going after the low end market, it would be good for them to have a less expensive tablet than the regular iPad to compete with the smaller and cheaper Android tablets and Kindle Fires that are available.

I've been hearing about the concept of inductive charging, which is a method of charging that basically uses a transmitter and a receiver to wirelessly charge devices, for a long time. I forgot to plug in my iPhone last night, so I'm wishing that it was available right now.

Most of the speculation is about a tablet, and I think this is a reasonable educated guess. At E3 we saw "Smart Glass", which allows tablet users to interact with the X360, which has become much more than a simple game playing device.

ttopp asks Is the cloud going tIs the cloud going to put IT professionals out of work?o put IT professionals out of work? One of the selling points I see from cloud providers is that they will save companies money by reducing the need for "expensive" IT staff to maintain networks/servers/etc. Sounds good, I guess, unless you are a member of that IT staff.46 weeks 6 days ago
