Spinal Tap 2

HA! See? This is what happens when you turn your iPod up to 11...

Update

Just finished reading "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman via MobiPocket Reader on my BB Storm. I found it to be truly excellent.

HA!

That is an excellent point. I've been trying to figure out how this could be beneficial to a WMC user...to no avail. You're right on the money, Peter!

VERY cool article

I'm listening to "Pure Phase" by Spiritualized at the moment. Album du jour.

Thanks Jeff

This is a great guide. Thank you for posting the link.

Weatherbug Review revisited

Anonymous #1 was correct. After removing the mysterious Weatherbug Trial app from my Storm, I went in (again) and downloaded the storm.jad file. Much better this time.

WeatherBug does push info like the other two apps, is configurable like the BBWeather app, and has a very pleasant and informative online interface when the icon is clicked. AND...no trial information B.S. I really must find out what this is all about at some point.

Anonymous #2 is also correct. I simply input my zip code to get my local weather. There is also the option to let your phone's GPS get your location. This didn't work on my phone, but I will explore this option further...and this could be the coolest aspect of WB.

Weatherbug

The trial thing is indeed interesting. Just to double-check, I launched Weatherbug on my Storm and was greeted with a screen that says, "WeatherBug Trial - 30 days left."

Perhaps this is the wrong app for my Storm; maybe I downloaded the wrong version or something. But I still am receiving the trial message. Also, this could be something where there isn't actually an enforced trial. Meaning, I could keep this app going indefinitely.

I will try to re-download and give it a shot. I was a Weatherbug user for my desktop for years, so I was also surprised at the trial.

Good article!

I remember always looking for easter eggs in programs, especially in the late 90s. That was a really fun pasttime (I'm boring, I suppose), and it's kinda cool to see the practice continue. Looks like I'll be wasting some more time in the hunt.

Egad

Don't marketers realize that people are just turned off by the letter "y"? Someone should let them know, asap!

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.

AISO founders envisioned a Web hosting company that was environmentally friendly. While the company employed energy-efficient innovations like solar panels, its infrastructure produced unacceptable power and cooling requirements. Find out how AISO leveraged AMD technology to overcome their challenge in this case study white paper.

In this whitepaper, Scalar explores the opportunity to change the landscape with respect to mission critical databases built around Oracle. Leveraging technologies such as Linux, high-end commodity processing power and Oracle RAC technology to architect, design, build and maintain database infrastructure that delivers maximum availability, reliability and performance at a fraction of traditional cost.

On a typical day, weather.com, the Web site for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, serves up between 15 million and 20 million page views. But in September 2004, when back-to-back hurricanes ransacked Florida, the peak traffic on one day more than tripled: over 70 million page views by more than 7 million unique visitors.
