April 03, 2012, 10:06 AM — From Japan (where else?) comes this DigInfoTV report on researchers using the Microsoft Kinect motion-control accessory to create a game that uses the tongue as the controller. It's designed for people who have difficulty using their mouth for motor skills (people finding it difficult to talk, for example), training the tongue to move in specific directions.
If you thought that was weird, there's a second video, in which a researcher uses strings and motor actuators to provide plants with movement to make them appear as if they're alive. No, I don't really know why.
It's becoming clear that some odd things are happening over in Japan, and that they should go outside a bit more.
