June 19, 2012, 11:07 AM — Over the past six years or so, I've watched my three children go from babies to real-life human beings that can form words and sentences (my youngest, about-to-turn-3, can just about form sentences that sort of make sense). So I've watched them as they go from babbling to nonsense words to actual words.
Why do I bring this up? No reason, other than there are now robots that can do the same. Check out this video from New Scientist, in which we see a not-that-creepy-looking robot learning words based on visual cues from a box.
