Why the Sun hasn't been able to destroy the Earth

NASA animation shows why we're protected from cosmic rays that damage other planets


In case you haven't seen it yet, NASA has posted this cool video called "Dynamic Earth", which offers up some animations and explanations on why events like coronal mass ejections don't harm the Earth as they would other planets, such as Venus. Cool stuff.

I wonder if the cosmic rays affect Uranus?
