Carnegie Mellon robotics lab improves on snake robot functions

OK, I think it's officially time to start packing up supplies for my survival bunker for the day when the robots officially take over. In this video, we see the latest research from Carnegie Mellon University's robotics lab, in which controllers can automatically adapt the robot's shape to changes in its environments. In the video, the robot can climb a 4-inch pole, transition to a 2-inch pole, and then onto someone's arm, "demonstrating that the controller is able to adapt to different diameters of objects without exerting too much force to be uncomfortable in human contact."

But, of course, all of these robots will be used for good, not evil. Right? Right?
