Trend Micro's Deep Security firewall/intrusion-protection system software for VMware's ESX server can protect multiple virtual machines on one physical server.
Start-up HyTrust Monday launched its first product, an appliance for enforcing security policy related to administrative use of VMware ESX servers and the VirtualCenter management console.
The conventional wisdom in the admittedly brief tradition of x86-based server virtualization, predicts that when money gets tight, Microsoft does well with its all-but-free Hyper-V, while VMware and its comparatively expensive ESX lose ground.
VMware, whose virtualization software helps IT departments maximize use of their server hardware, said Wednesday that its product will run reliably with software from Microsoft.
VMware Tuesday said it will offer the small-footprint version of its ESX virtualization software free, responding to pressure from Microsoft and other companies that are threatening VMware's lead in the virtualization market.
Sidekick: The Good News & the Bad News Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.

On a typical day, weather.com, the Web site for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, serves up between 15 million and 20 million page views. But in September 2004, when back-to-back hurricanes ransacked Florida, the peak traffic on one day more than tripled: over 70 million page views by more than 7 million unique visitors. Read the full success story now.
