October 28, 2012, 3:29 PM — Here's how you can close desktop applications in Windows 8.
1. To close an app you are currently using:
With a mouse or touch, drag the application from the top of your screen to the bottom.
2. To close an app you were recently using:
With touch, swipe in from the left edge without lifting your finger. Push the app back toward the left edge. Drag the app from the list to the bottom of the screen.
With a mouse, put your cursor in the upper-left corner, then move it down the left edge of your screen. Right-click the app then click on Close.
